serving York County
US Senate
Both US Senators from South Carolina are Republicans. Lindsey Graham is the senior Senator. His term expires in 2027 (next election in 2026). Tim Scott is the junior Senator. His term expires in 2029 (next election in 2028). So no US Senators are on the South Carolina ballot in 2024.
US House of Representatives
All of York County is included in US House District 5. The incumbent is Republican Ralph Norman. All US House seats are up for election every two years, so that includes 2024. See our Candidates page to follow the election.
South Carolina State Senate
Senator Mike Fanning is the only Democrat representing part of York County. Mike represents the 17th State Senate District, which covers the southeast corner of the County, including some of the city of Rock Hill. The 17th also covers all of Chester and Fairfield counties, to our south. Mike lives in Fairfield County. He will be up for re-election in 2024.
South Carolina State House
Representative John King is the only Democrat representing part of York County in the SC House. John represents the SC House 49th District, in south-central York County, a carefully gerrymandered district that includes the southwest corner of Rock Hill and a bit of the town of York. His next election is in 2024.
York County Council
Bump Roddey is the only Democrat on the York County Council. Bump represents District 4, basically the city of Rock Hill. His next election is in 2026.
Municipal Governments
There are nine municipalities in York County: the towns of Clover, Fort Mill, Hickory Grove, McConnells, Sharon, and Smyrna; and the cities of Rock Hill, Tega Cay, and York. All of them are govered by non-partisan offices, although elections and governing issues can surface strong partisanship.
